The Department of Health and Rehabilitation at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology is responsible for education and research in occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, and audiology. The section aims to conduct its activities with very high quality.
The Physiotherapy unit is an active educational-research environment with a vision to continue developing the physiotherapy of the future. Both education and research take place in close collaboration with healthcare. Education is conducted at the bachelor, master's, and doctoral levels, and interdisciplinary research is carried out with both national and international cooperation.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the assistant professor include conducting research corresponding to at least 50 percent of full-time. This includes work with various types of research questions/scientific design, development of theoretical ideas, data collection and analysis, interpretation of research results, and writing scientific articles. The position also includes actively seeking external funding for one's own research and actively participating in the department's research environments and seminar activities.
Education in the form of preparation for, implementation of, and follow-up on various forms of teaching at both the undergraduate and advanced levels, where the applicant's professional experience should be applied in relevant teaching situations, is included. Any teaching at the doctoral level is also included. Course and program development, course responsibility, course administration, and other pedagogical work are also part of the position. Teaching is primarily conducted in Swedish.
The appointee who lacks higher education pedagogical training must undergo such training within one year from the start of the appointment.
Eligibility
Eligibility for appointment as an assistant professor is regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance and the University of Gothenburg's employment regulations.
Eligible for appointment as an assistant professor is one who has obtained a doctoral degree in physiotherapy or has equivalent scientific competence. Primarily, the person who has obtained a doctoral degree or has achieved equivalent competence no more than seven years before the application period for the position of assistant professor has expired should be considered. However, those who have obtained a doctoral degree or have achieved equivalent competence earlier may also be considered if there are special reasons. Special reasons refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, or other similar circumstances. Reasons, dates, and extent of absence must be clearly specified in the application and substantiated with certificates.
The ability to teach in Swedish and English is a requirement.
Employment
Fixed-term employment for 4 years, full-time (100%). Placement at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Start date by agreement.
An appointment as an assistant professor is temporary and defined as a merit-based position. The purpose of the appointment is to give the applicant the opportunity to develop their independence as a researcher and to qualify both scientifically and pedagogically to meet the requirements for eligibility as a university lecturer. The appointment may be renewed, but for a maximum of two additional years if due to illness, parental leave, or other special reasons additional time is required to achieve the purpose of the appointment. The requirements for promotion to university lecturer are based on the assessment criteria established by the Faculty Board of the Sahlgrenska Academy.
